My word for the year was g r o w .
Never has a word been so fitting. This year I have been busy with more magazine features than ever before, more styled shoots for various clients and some wonderful, wonderful events. I have run workshops with the blog, as well for other clients too- Expedition Morocco and Kino Vino, being highlights. I also launched my very first E-product and learned more than I thought possible in the process. The other thing I was hoping to manifest with my word for the year was another baby.....and I'm now rather smitten to announce that Bullivant baby no2 is cooking up nicely and due in February!
Juggling work, pregnancy and less childcare with Dave and Franks has been a learning curve, and one that I've entirely not mastered. Rest and self care have slipped over the summer holidays when I've had less childcare and more work, and blogging has fallen by the wayside in the midst of it too. I'm learning all the time where best to put my energy and focus and although great progress has been made, I'm still figuring out the earning an actual living thing. So yes, definitely more to learn. More room for growth.
On having a second...
For a long time I wasn't sure I wanted a second child. It certainly wasn't a given. But as Frankie reached 3 then 4, the pull I felt toward another baby grew stronger and stronger until last winter when we decided that yes, growing our family, our favourite thing in the world, might in fact be a rather wonderful idea. It took a while to happen which made the positive test all the sweeter. The fact that the positive test came the day after I returned from Marrakesh, in my busiest month of the year, when I was facing months of very demanding work was... interesting. Nausea and tiredness have been typically bad, and I have terrible lower back pain too which has made shoot days and events somewhat challenging! There is still so much more to learn, but I've proved to myself this year that I can name what I want, work damn hard, do scary things, and reach my goals. A womb baby in the mix is also rather sweet too.
Frankie-Rose initially FREAKED THE HELL OUT when we told her the news but after the shock subsided has been very, very excited. She tells everyone we meet about "our baby", checks the size of my bump hourly and has started to talk and sing to the baby too. She is naturally very caring and empathetic and I think will be the most amazing big sister.
Big sister! Two children! It still feels a little surreal!
We took all these photo's on the beach for Dave's birthday this week- a glorious evening of fish and chips and beer (for him!) and prancing about with my bump in front of the camera.
So, yet more beachy blog posts, and three posts in one week! I think i've finally caught up with my enormous blogging backlog, and it feels great to be able to finally been able to share our news.
I'm currently putting together the Sunday Supplement which goes out on Sunday to over 1.5k people now (whoa!) so if you haven't signed up yet, you can do so at the top of my page.
Happy Friday to you!
