Davina here - I am a big believer of saying thank you and its something I try very hard to instill in my girls. Of course, I like to say the words ‘thank you’ but I also love to make little gestures to show my appreciation and I really like to help Elfie say ‘thank you’ through made gestures too. For example we try really hard to always make thank you cards (not just for presents but also for when people do nice things for us too like have us over for lunch).
Sometimes I feel a card isn’t enough. For instance if someone feeds our cats for a long weekend I think its nice to give a gift too. Recently (since having Bonnie) I have struggled to always find time to go into town to buy a gift and have found myself in my local supermarket staring in hope at the same old offer of flowers, chocolates and wine. A couple of weeks ago I bought some chocolates for a friend but wanted to find a way to make them more special and personal. I looked though my craft materials and found some Ikea tins that I bought - not knowing why at the time and it gave me the idea to make a Pass it on Thank You Tin.
What is a Pass it on Thank You Tin:
The idea is simple - you fill the tin with a present (in this case chocolates) and give it to the person you want to say ‘thank you’ too. They then fill the tin with a gift next times they want to say thank you to someone and so on. Being a tin it will last a long time, protect items inside and can even be used for baked goods!
How to Make a Pass it on Thank You Tin:
- Buy some simple tins
- Using a Dymo embosser/ paint/ permanent pen/ alphabet stickers write ‘Thank You’ on the tin
What to put inside as a Thank You gift:
- Cookie cutters
- Freshly baked goods
- A small plant (keep lid open)
- Popcorn kernels
- Bath bomb
- Bath salts
- Nail polish
- A drawing
- A Poem
- Washi tape
- Rubber stamp
