Davina here: Two weekends ago my best friend Jeni married the love of her life Andy after a thirteen year friendship and five year romance in the beautiful setting of Snowdonia, Wales. I was lucky enough to be one of her bridesmaids and Elfie was flower girl. I recently blogged about what I made for her hen do. Jeni is a jewellery designer and I met her at art school when we were only eighteen! We both were workaholics (well addicted to making) and enjoyed crafting together so much - often collaborating and helping each other with our projects. This has carried on into our adult lives and Jeni was my bridesmaid and helped me make many decorations for my wedding and is Elfie's godmother and has made her some beautiful things including a beautiful 'welcome' garland for her birth and a gorgeous Elfreda name necklace.
In preparation for Jeni's wedding we tried to meet every week (for six months or so) for 'craft club' in which we made decorations for the wedding - it was really lovely to make it a regular event and share her dreams and planning along the way. However, I was not the only one helping to make the wedding but there were many others involved - in particular Jeni' s mum who made all the cakes and scones for the reception and grew all the herbs for the wedding tables as well as offering constant emotional and strategic support. It was so inspiring to see how Jeni's friends and family got so deeply involved and truly helped Jeni and Andy craft the perfect homemade wedding - a wedding that in its making represented love and friendship.
